FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Westford, Massachusetts, Feb 11, 2001—Visual Solutions Incorporated announces the release of version 2.0 of  VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid Prototyper. This new version includes blocks for supporting the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) bus, full compare PWM output,  I/O port read/write, and updated CAN support to allow customization of TSEG1 and TSEG2, baud rate adjustment, transmit control pins, and receive announce pins. CAN addresses can now be changed on the fly. The download and flash burn utilities now support both 30 MHz and 40 MHz parts at both 2x and 4x crystal rates.

VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid Prototyper lets you quickly design and test embedded controllers and filters targeted for implementation on the Texas Instruments C2000 family of Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) including the TI F243EVM, LF2407 EVM and the LF2407 eZdsp DSK.

The VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid Prototyper includes:

  • VisSim PE: a block diagram based modeling, simulation and code generation environment.
  • VisSim/Fixed Point™: fixed-point blocks and design tools for simulation and code generation of scaled integer operations.
  • Peripheral Blocks that automatically generate code for:
    • 16 analog inputs,
    • 16 PWM outputs,
    • 41 digital I/O,
    • 2 quadrature encoder inputs,
    • 6 event capture (up to 1 MHZ resolution),
    • 10 MHz SPI channel support,,
    • CAN 2.0 bus, with six mailboxes,
    • two 6-channel space vector PWM outputs with deadband,
    • serial port based LCD display.
  • TI C2000 Digital Motor Control (DMC) Block Set supporting simulation and code generation of efficient, hand-coded assembler versions for PI, PID, Park and Clarke transforms, Inverse Park and Clarke, space vector wave form generators, event interval to speed conversion.
  • VisSim-Code Composer Studio (CCS) plug-in for automatic CCS project creation.
  • Automatic C code generation of production quality fixed-point code, compile, link, and JTAG download to the TI F243/ LF 2407/ LF 2407 eZdsp.
  • TI C2000 CAN Bus Support
  • From 1x16 to 4x40 Serial LCD Support

Todd Solak, Worldwide Marketing Manager Digital Controls System Group - Texas Instruments, says this about the VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid Prototyper:

"The VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid Prototyper is well integrated with our C2000 DSP EVMs . The combination of the VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid Prototyper software and TI's C2000 DSPs provides designers with an excellent embedded DSP control platform."

The TI LF2407 eZdsp DSK evaluation board is the perfect complement to the VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid Prototyper - 16 analog inputs, 16 PWM outputs (two complete 6 channel Space Vector drivers), 2 quadrature encoder inputs, 64K of Flash RAM, 2MHZ CAN bus, 4 16-bit timers, 41 digital I/O's, 6 event capture inputs (up to 8 MHZ) all on a single chip!

A VisSim/TI C2000 RP + eZdsp DSK bundle which includes the VisSim/TI C2000 RP software, TI Code Composer Studio™, plus the TI LF2407 eZdsp evaluation board (with JTAG interface, power supply and parallel port cable) is available directly from Visual Solutions for $3,795. An academic version is available, including the LF2407 eZdsp, for $795.

The VisSim/TI-C2000 Rapid Prototyper is the smarter, faster way for embedded control design. But don't take our word for it: call 1-800-VISSIM-1 or email sales@vissol.com for a free trial version. For more information go to: http://www.vissim.com/products/c2000/c2000.html.
