FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New version 5.0
of VisSim is now shipping.
Westford, Massachusetts, November 15, 2002 -
Visual Solutions Incorporated (VSI) announces the immediate
availability of VisSim Version 5.0 for Windows 95/98/2000/NT/XP.
VisSim Version 5.0 adds new blocks for triangle,
square and sawtooth signal generators. A State Transition block has
been added to model and generate code for finite state transition
diagrams. Version 5 bring a multi-document
interface along with a visual diagram compare facility, and report
generation. Scalar and matrix expressions can now be used for
constant blocks, and initializers for unit delays.
You can now specify simulation time
step using time interval or frequency. A
startup script can be specified to initialize the VisSim workspace
for easy abstraction of key system parameters. The script can be
MATLABŪ or C. Initial load of large diagrams (> 100,000 blocks) has
been sped up by a factor of 10.
V5.0 brings an improved VisSim DLL wizard extension of the
Microsoft Visual C/C++ compiler (v5.0+). The VisSim DLL wizard steps
you through creation of VisSim custom blocks. Version 5.0 adds
custom data types to input and output data, and code generation
capability from user-defined blocks.
Multi-level undo and redo lets you undo previous actions or
operations. It also adds to the set of operations that can be
"undone", including block motion, wire connection/disconnection,
compound block creation, and block insertion
V5.0 plots now have user selectable subwindows, allowing easy
comparison of similar amplitude waveforms in a single plot block
Enhancements have been made to optimize data exchange
speed between VisSim
and Mathcad.
VisSim 5.0 includes a SIMULINKŪ translator
at no extra charge:
Automatic dialog table construction lets you specify tabular data
Excel. information about different motors, such as their peak
force, intermittent force, peak current, and so on. You simply
create a data table in excel that contains the motor information,
then reference the file in a dialogTable block. When you click on
the dialogTable block, VisSim automatically creates a dialog box
that lets you select the row of data in the table with a drop down
combo box that takes its contents from the row label in the first
column. Each subsequent item in the row is displayed in the dialog
with a prompt taken from the column header. The block takes on the
same number of output pins as columns in the table. Values on the
pins represent the column values for the currently selected row.
Commercial applications of VisSim include: anti-lock
brake systems (GM), turbine modeling, control and commissioning
(Honeywell), PCS transceiver design (Ericsson), motion control (Pacific
Scientific), aerospace guidance, navigation and control (Air Force
Research Lab - Eglin AFB) and dynamic process control simulations
(DuPont).
VisSim combines an intuitive drag &
drop block diagram interface with a powerful simulation engine.
The user builds his system model by selecting predefined blocks
from a block library and graphically "wires" (connects)
the blocks into a diagram. After the model is configured, a simulation
is run and results of the simulation are displayed. With VisSim,
users can quickly develop software or "virtual" prototypes
of systems or processes to demonstrate their behavior prior to building
physical prototypes. The benefits of using VisSim modeling and simulation
software include faster time to market, lower overall design costs
and greater assurance that the product will perform as specified.
Trial
versions of the VisSim 5.0 software,
tutorials and marketing information are available free from the
Visual Solutions web site: www.vissim.com.
About Visual Solutions
Since 1989, Visual Solutions
(VSI) has been a pioneer in the development of Windows-based
software for the modeling and simulation of dynamic systems. Their
mission is to provide easy-to-use, powerful and affordable modeling,
simulation and embedded system design software.
VisSim is the winner of Electronic Design
News Magazine's 2001 Hot 100 New Technologies. VisSim software is
much easier to use and offers faster simulation speeds than
competitive products. Additionally, VisSim includes the unique
VisSim Viewer™, a run-time, view-only version of VisSim that enables
users to distribute models at no charge.
