FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New release
of VisSim Provides Integration With Mathcad 2000®
Westford, Massachusetts, September 19, 2000 - Visual
Solutions Incorporated (VSI) announces the immediate availability
of VisSim Version 4.5 for Windows 95/98/2000/NT. The version 4.5
upgrade is free to all VisSim Version 4 license holders; for those
users with prior versions the cost of the upgrade is $ 750.
VisSim is an award winning software program
for the modeling and simulation of control, communication and signal
processing systems. Commercial applications of VisSim include: anti-lock
brake systems (GM), turbine modeling, control and commissioning
(Honeywell), PCS transceiver design (Ericsson), motion control (Pacific
Scientific), aerospace guidance, navigation and control (Air Force
Research Lab - Eglin AFB) and dynamic process control simulations
(DuPont).
VisSim combines an intuitive drag &
drop block diagram interface with a powerful simulation engine.
The user builds his system model by selecting predefined blocks
from a block library and graphically "wires" (connects)
the blocks into a diagram. After the model is configured, a simulation
is run and results of the simulation are displayed. With VisSim,
users can quickly develop software or "virtual" prototypes
of systems or processes to demonstrate their behavior prior to building
physical prototypes. The benefits of using VisSim modeling and simulation
software include faster time to market, lower overall design costs
and greater assurance that the product will perform as specified.
VisSim Version 4.5 consists of a "no
programming required" OLE/COM compliant integration with Mathcad
2000. This integration provides Mathcad users with a simple and
seamless method for performing dynamic system simulations. With
VisSim, Mathcad users can now model and simulate control, communication
or signal processing systems. Mathcad users can create new, or embed
existing, Mathcad documents within a VisSim model by using the new
Insert Mathcad Object block. Users can dynamically exchange scalar
or matrix data between VisSim and Mathcad using the simple VisSim
click and wire interface - no programming required!
To optimize data exchange between VisSim
and Mathcad, values can be accessed at the beginning or end of each
VisSim simulation run, every time step or at a user defined update
rate. All Mathcad Object blocks are saved to the VisSim diagram
file with full OLE information and will automatically reestablish
communication with Mathcad upon loading. There is no limit to the
number of Mathcad Object blocks that can be embedded within a VisSim
model.
Version 4.5 also includes an Insert OLEobject
block that allows users to integrate OLE compliant objects, such
as Microsoft Word or Excel documents, within a VisSim diagram. This
is a major design documentation enhancement to VisSim as users can
easily (with no programming required) integrate product specifications,
Excel spreadsheets, PDF's or other OLE compliant documents within
their VisSim diagram.
VSI's entry level products are ideally suited
for the Mathcad user and include the Mathcad OLE/COM integration,
MATLAB® integration tools and a SIMULINK® translator:

About Visual Solutions
Since 1989, Visual Solutions (VSI)
has been a pioneer in the development of Windows-based software
for the modeling and simulation of dynamic systems. Their mission
is to provide easy-to-use, powerful and affordable modeling, simulation
and embedded system design software to engineering end users and
OEM Technology Partners.
The core software for all VSI products is
VisSim, winner of Control Magazine's 1999 Readers' Choice Award
in the Software Simulation Category. VisSim software is much easier
to use and offers faster simulation speeds than competitive products.
Additionally, every VisSim product includes the unique VisSim Viewer,
a run-time, view-only version of VisSim that enables users to distribute
models, at no charge, to individuals not licensed to use VisSim.
