Visual Solutions Announces VisSim Version
4.0
[ New Features
In VisSim 4.0 ]
Westford, Massachusetts, May 14, 1999
- Visual Solutions Incorporated
announces the availability of VisSim version 4.0. Version
4.0 is a "customer driven" release as virtually all of
the major enhancements were requested by existing users. An extensive
beta test program makes VisSim version 4.0 the most thoroughly
"customer tested" product ever released by Visual Solutions.
First customer shipment is planned for May 28, 1999.
VisSim is a Windows-based program for the
modeling and simulation of complex dynamic systems. VisSim
is used by a wide variety of companies to model and simulate systems
and develop controllers for a diverse range of products. Control
System Design applications include : automotive brake systems (GM
- Delphi), precision motion control machinery like PCB insertion
equipment (Universal Instruments), aerospace guidance, navigation
and control systems (ITT Aerospace) and dynamic process control
simulations (DuPont).
The benefits of using VisSim - faster
time to market, lower overall design costs and greater assurance
that the product will perform as specified. Version 4.0 enhancements
include:
|
Feature
|
Description
|
|
MATLAB Integration |
Interactively
execute MATLAB commands, functions and .m files from within
a VisSim session. VisSim automatically starts MATLAB and accesses
MATLAB variables used in a VisSim model. |
|
ActiveX Support |
Exchange information
in real time with any other Windows application that is an ActiveX
container or ActiveX data server using ActiveXread and ActiveXwrite
blocks. |
|
Auto Dialog Box Generation |
Set,
view, select, and change user-defined parameter values encapsulated
for compound blocks in a compound block through a single dialog
box. |
|
DLL Wizard |
An extension
of the Microsoft Visual C/C++ compiler (v4.0 or greater) for
automatically integrating user-developed C or C++ programs into
VisSim as custom blocks. |
|
Triggered Compound Blocks |
Selectively
enable or disable the execution of compound blocks and set the
rate of execution for a compound block. |
|
Look-up Table Wizard |
Automatically
generate a VisSim map block (that can be used as a static model)
from 1D, 2D, or 3D look-up tables. |
|
String Processing |
Create alphanumeric
text strings that VisSim displays upon the occurrence of a conditional
event. For example, display the following warning message when
a tank capacity is compromised: "Potential overflow
tank at 95% capacity." |
|
Integrated VisSim Viewer |
Automatically
distribute free run-time versions of block diagram models by
email or disk. |
In addition, new product add-ons are available
with Version 4.0:
- VisSim/ ModelWizard: generates a transfer
function model from historic or real-time data.
- VisSim/MATLAB Compiler: Compiles MATLAB
functions into VisSim blocks.
- Visim/RT-PDI (Real Time Plant Data
Interface): reads and writes tag information from and to plant
data historians, SCADA or DCS.
"Discovering VisSim has been a major
turning point in my career as a control engineer. VisSim
allows me to solve problems ten times faster than with tools conventionally
adopted by industry. With the new version 4.0 plot and export simulation
features, VisSim offers great ways to visually communicate
designs and results with others in my company." -- Mike Borrello,
Senior Controls Engineer Mallinckrodt Inc.
About Visual Solutions
Since 1989, Visual Solutions (VSI) has been
a pioneer in the development of Windows-based software for the modeling
and simulation of dynamic systems. VisSim solutions are used by
major companies in the following market areas :
|
Industrial
|
Process Control
|
|
Motion Control
|
Aerospace
|
|
Transportation
|
Communications
|
Fortune 500 companies using
VisSim include: ABB, Allen Bradley, Boeing, British Aerospace,
Carrier, Chrysler, Dow Chemical, DuPont, Ericsson, Foxboro, General
Electric, GEC, General Motors, , Hitachi, Honda, HP, Lockheed-Martin,
Marconi Electronic Systems, Motorola, NASA, Raytheon, Seagate,
Texaco, TI, Toshiba, United Technologies, Volvo, Westinghouse,
Weyerhaeuser & Xerox.
The VisSim product
family includes :
VisSim/DSP:
An integrated, Windows-based program for the Rapid Prototyping of
Control Systems targeted for DSPs and embedded systems.
VisSim/Real-Time:
A VisSim option that provides the capability to couple a VisSim
system model directly with a "real" process or controller.
With VisSim/Real-Time, hardware-in-the-loop systems can be easily
configured and executed by interfacing VisSim plant or controller
models with real-world hardware, such as manufacturing plants, chemical
processes, motors, pumps, and electric drives.
VisSim/C-Code:
Automatically generates customizable ANSI C code directly from VisSim
function blocks. The code can be complied and run on any platform
that supports an ANSI C compiler.
VisSim/Comm:
An integrated, Windows-based program for the modeling and simulation
of end-to-end analog, digital or mixed-mode communication systems
at the signal or physical level.
Full working copies of VisSim, VisSim/Comm,
model libraries, application tutorials and marketing information
are available free from the Visual Solutions web site: www.vissim.com.
