FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Visual
Solutions announces the release of VisSim/Comm 5.0 with additional
Wireless LAN and Turbo Code advanced modules
Westford, Massachusetts, Feb 13, 2003 -
Visual Solutions Incorporated (VSI) announces the immediate
availability of VisSim/Comm Version 5.0 for Windows 95/98/2000/NT/XP.
VisSim/Comm is a software application for the
simulation and modeling of communication system designs at the
physical layer. The product includes full support for simulating
analog, digital and mixed-mode communication systems, as well as
general signal processing systems. The product provides a rapid
prototyping capability for comm and digital signal processing
engineers, and is also an excellent tool for academic purposes.
VisSim/Comm has been shown to hold as much as a 10X speed advantage
over comparable simulators, and supports multirate simulations and
complex envelope models. Its intuitive block diagram interface makes
it easy to build, modify and maintain even the most complex system
models. Engineers can easily view signal waveforms at any stage of a
communication system chain, simulate amplifier non-linearities,
model channel impairments, and perform system performance
measurements. The program was voted by EDN magazine as one of the
"Hot 100" top products of 2001.
The 5.0 release adds many new features and capabilities, including a
multi-document interface, multirate simulation capability, enhanced
vector/matrix handling support, finite state transition blocks,
multi-level undo and redo, a visual diagram compare facility and
many new communication specific blocks. The new release also
supports startup scripts in MATLABŪ or C to initialize the VisSim
workspace for easy abstraction of key system parameters.
Version 5.0 brings an improved VisSim DLL wizard extension of the
Microsoft Visual C/C++ compiler (v5.0+). The VisSim DLL wizard steps
you through creation of VisSim custom blocks. Version 5.0 adds
custom data types to input and output data, and code generation
capability from user-defined blocks.
Developed in collaboration with West Virginia University, the
optional Wireless LAN module extends the capabilities of the core
product by providing support for Bluetooth, 802.11a, and 802.11b
wireless designs. Highlights from the library include blocks for
simulating GFSK, CCK modulation, spread spectrum, OFDM modulation
and its associated subcarrier mappings.
The optional Turbo Codes module was developed in collaboration with
Dr. Matt Valenti of West Virginia University and provides support
for parallel concatenated turbo codes. The library features
efficient encoder and decoder designs and includes support for the
recent UMTS specification.
VisSim/Comm 5.0 is priced at $4,995. A limited capability “personal”
version is also available for $995. Academic pricing is also
available. The optional WLAN and Turbo Code modules are available
for a limited time at an introductory price of $1995 and $995
respectively.
VisSim/Comm 5.0 is the smarter, faster way to solve all your
